Bottle to Cup Training with Nuby

July 27, 2017 § Leave a comment

Hi ya’ll!

I am back sharing with you all my journey through breastfeeding and trying to get this little babe to take at least one bottle! Seriously I never believed anyone when they told me some babes just won’t take a bottle because they rather the boob. Welp Scarlett refuses a bottle from me but if its grandma she’ll take it with no problem.

Scarlett is 8 months now and I’ve started giving her at least 1oz. of water or juice in a sippy cup after each meal to flush everything down. We have been using Nuby’s Natural Touch Bottle to Cup to transition her from its slow flow bottle nipple to the no spill spout. I started introducing her to this bottle a little over 4 months ago and she wasn’t having it! She showed no interest to the nipple at all. At around 6 months I switched it over to the spout and she’s done much better getting the hang of drinking from it with the super easy detachable handles to help her hold on to it.

I carry this cup around in my diaper bag all the time because it holds up to 9oz of liquid which is enough to have for a whole day of being out and about.

Most importantly this bottle to cup is BPA FREE and a great investment since it can be used from 3 months+!

The Nuby Natural Touch Bottle to Cup can be found at Babies R Us.

Steps to Starting Solids

July 11, 2017 § Leave a comment

Hello beautiful ladies!

My DMs have been going crazy with questions regarding how I started solids with Scarlett. I post little clips on Instagram Stories of how I prep or purée her meals, but honestly the videos are too short for me to chit chat about all the steps or how I started. In this post I will tell you how I started, prep and purée everything.

First off always be sure to consult with your Pediatrician when it is okay to start solids with your little ones. I am Hispanic and right when the baby turns 4 months grandma wants to start stuffing baby up with their first foods, so on that note I did start Scarlett on purées early, but I confirmed with her pediatrician and she gave me the okay as well! I started with simple veggies like carrots, sweet potatoes, and squash. Then moved on to fruits like bananas, apples, and avocado (yes it is a fruit if you didn’t know lol). I would chop up the veggies into small like cubes because it makes steaming them quicker. I use this Beaba to steam and purée.

I cut the fruits in cubes as well and drop them in the blender. I would recommend trying one veggie per week and then fruits. To start off I wouldn’t add anything to add flavor to the veggies.

Prepping is one of my least favorite things to do but its the only way I have enough food puréed in the freezer for the week for Scarlett. I use two different storing systems when I prep.

 1. Beaba Multiportions silicone tray

2. Nuby Garden fresh freezer tray with lid

I love using both of these for simple reasons. They are silicone, bpa free, super easy to clean, and super easy to pop the frozen purées out!

When I start puréeing I make sure I keep all the foods I am going to use out and presentable, washed, and chopped; makes it easier that way. Scarlett is older now so I use certain seasoninngs like butter and oil if it isn’t already cooked for dinner. If I am cooking dinner and I decide to feed her what we are eating I will just blend it and feed it right to her. I do that now because she is a bit older and we are past the stage of trial and error. I pretty much already know what she doesn’t like or can’t have. (We had a case of hives and allergic reaction to some shell fish my grandmother fed her… yea the worst scare of my life that day) On that note, please please stay away from feeding your little babes shell fish/ certain seafood. After the one year mark it is okay to try feeding them it based on what pediatricians recommend. Make sure you are steaming at the correct amount of time for each food. If you over steam you are losing more of the nutrients it provides. You lose 22-34% already by steaming so yea just make sure its the correct amount of minutes. The Beaba already does this for me, one of the reasons I am obsessed!

After steaming ALWAYS save/use the extra liquid left behind to help smooth and purée during the blending process. That bit of liquid is gold and withholds any nutrients steamed out. During the process of blending thats when you can toss in any butter or oil for a bit of flavor as well as mixing any other veggie or fruit. Then you are ready to feed that hungry little babe 🙂

These are the bowls and spoons I have been using to feed Scarlett

1. Nuby Silicone Spoons

Loveeeee these spoons! They are gentle on her gums because they are 100% silicone and the spoon itself has a wide boxy shape which scopes up food very well.

2. Nuby Sure Grip Suction Bowl

These bowls are great for crazy little hands haha. Honestly, Scarlett can’t keep her hands or arms still ever, she loves to be in everything. These bowls stick to the table with a nonslip base. They hold up a lot too!

And these last options are just two super handy and favorite items of ours. Scarlett loves to self feed so I went on the hunt for reusable food pouches and found these;

Baby Brezza Easy Fill Pouch System

Bought these with a 20% off coupon a couple months ago so got them dirt cheap and they bring 10. Babies r us is running that sale right now so I would take advantage and run now and grab some! (Just click the link to buy!)

And the Nuby Ez- SqueeZ for at home quick fixer uppers. You can shove some fresh food and hand it off on this thing AMAZING!

I hope this helps you mamas get started on solids and I hope you enjoy trying some of our favorite products that helped us get this ball rolling!

Con mucho amor,

Xo dee

NanaNubs Massager

Hi guys!

We are still in a teething journey with little miss Scarlett. She’s 7 months now and no teeth have broken through yet, but she still does love her teething toys. We have been using our Nuby NanaNubs Massager for about 4 months now and she L O V E S IT!

The teether massager is shaped like a banana with easy looped handles for tiny little hands. The tip has several little bristles which provide comfrt to baby gums. As well, assists in the eruptions of teeth by gently massaging gums. It is BPA free and 100% super soft silicone.

Scarlett carries this thing attached to her on a clip almost everyday. I do not leave the house without it honestly. I usually have it clipped onto her Orbit baby carseat along with the rest of her toys.

You can find the Nuby NanaNubs Massager on Amazon.

Logic Products- All Purpose Cleaner Part 1

May 24, 2017 § Leave a comment

Hello welcome back!

I know I’ve been MIA these last two weeks, but my brother in law is getting married this weekend so I’ve been running around the last couple of weeks trying to get outfits for Scarlett and I and suits for Angelo and my husband since they are apart of the wedding. All through the madness Scarlett has been sick but its all been respiratory and it has been driving me insane because it seems like shes had it for over three weeks now! Anywho, I thought this would be the  perfect timing to talk about a natural based product I have been using to disinfect after the kiddos and the house in general.

First, lets back track a bit and let me tell you why I DON’T use BLEACH in my house for cleaning purposes.

  1. It triggers my migraines
  2. I hate the smell
  3. The fumes it produces such as ammonia
  4. Gives me itchy hands; irritates my skin

All of these factors and others that I’m sure you could Google and read upon are just some as to why I don’t ever use bleach to clean up at home. I try to find alternatives to safer more natural products and thats where Logic Products All Purpose Cleaner comes in. I’ve been using this product non stop lately mainly because of Scarlett being sick. I’ve been wiping everything down that she touches or that anyone touches so that Angelo won’t catch anything. I don’t need two kids sick now!

This All Purpose Cleaner comes in two different sents; Citrus Grove and Jasmine Mist. They both smell amazing but I’ve been using each bottle for different purposes around the house. Today I’ll touch bases on Citrus Grove. This sent is exactly what it sounds like its a natural therapeutic grapefruit oil aroma. Once you spray some of this goodness on your counters it is safe to say there are no toxic residue left floating around for your family to inhale. Also, it cleans very well around the house on every surface except wood. I’ve been using the All Purpose Cleaner to wipe down/disinfect all of the kids toys, furniture and food spills.

When it’s time to feed Scarlett I always grab a few things to have on hand so I don’t have to walk away from her and grab them later. Those things consist of her food, spoon, sippy cup, wipes, paper towel/cloth, and cleaning solution to clean up after her spills and eating chair. I feel safe using this all natural plant based product on her baby things for the simple fact that I don’t worry that if she places them in her mouth after cleaning there are no harmful ingredients that will harm her in any way. Just the thought of cleaning something with bleach and then having her place it right back in her mouth makes me cringe!

Logic Products all Natural HomeLogic products are phthalate free, Ammonia free, formaldehyde free, chlorine free, bleach free, petroleum free, DEA & PEG free, paraben free, nonylphenol ethoxylate free, triclosan free methylisothiazolinone & benzisothiazolinone free, TEA free, and do not contain artificial colors or fragrances. They are cruelty free and vegan free as well!

I’ll be closing up my overall review on a seperate post next week sharing another way I like to use these products focusing on the sent Jasmine Mist!

Teething with Nuby

May 11, 2017 § Leave a comment

Hi mamas, it’s been a hectic couple of days but here we are!

So our little diva has been full blown teething since about 4 months. It got worse over time with night fevers and constant diarrhea. She would cry over her sore gums and try to put anything in her mouth to soothe her.

For the last month I have been using the Nuby Adult Teethable Necklaces. They are fashionable, made of 100% silicone, and BPA free. The necklaces themselves are truly amazing!

My current fashion pieces to wear around my neck have been bandannas, string necklaces and jewelry. Those are always the first things Scarlett decides to put in her mouth. Now, I always choose a teething necklace according to my outfit and that she can enjoy. The teething necklaces provide stimulation to her gums and emerging teeth.

I can honestly say getting dressed in the morning has been an ease! I would spend hours contemplating on what to wear, getting accessories put together and having Scarlett on the back borner thinking to myself “will she pull on this”, “will she put this in her mouth and get cut”, but now I just grab a teething necklace and layer it on with the rest of my jewelry that day. I’ve had other women ask me where I bought the necklace around my neck and become in awe when I mention its a teether for the little gal. So yes, they are that fashionable!

The teething necklaces silicone beads are a perfect size for small little hands to easily grab and get into their mouths. Each necklace is different but there are different styles for everyones liking. They come in various colors as well. The silicone is very soft and easy to clean. I simply run it through running water with mild soap and let air dry.

Now head on over to my Instagram @deearivett give us a follow if you haven’t and enter our GIVEAWAY with @NubyUSA for a chance to win an Adult Teething Necklace of your choice!

You can shop the Nuby Adult Teethable Necklaces at BabiesRUs and Target.

Morning routine

April 11, 2017 § Leave a comment

Hey guys!

Lets talk Shea! My morning routine once Scarlett and Angelo wake up consist of trying to get them fed and bathed. Shea Moisture has been my all time favorite since when Angelo started to react upon using Johnson & Johnson and developing minor eczema. I tried everything and Shea Moisture was MY solution!

I am a big time lover of shea butter and coca butter, so anything with any of those ingredients is a must for me. Our morning routine currently consist of using the Shea Moisture Raw Shea Chamomile & Argan Oil Wash & Shampoo along with the Raw Shea Chamomile & Argan Oil Baby Lotion. I start off with setting up over at the sink with everything I need and placing Scarlett’s blooming bath running with luke warm water.

Once the temperature is right I place her in and let her wiggle her toes into the water and start soaking her with a cloth towel. She loves to just sit in the water and play! Shea has changed their bottles and now use a quicker and easier foam pump to dispense the Wash & Shampoo, which I love so much better!

I’ll use the cloth towel and pump about 2-3 pumps out. I’ll wash her front and back then her hair and rince her off. Once she’s all dried up I start applying the Raw Shea Chamomile & Argan Oil Baby Lotion. Lastly, I massage this all over her body and it just smells soo good!

What I personally love about these products are listed below;

  1. Smell of shea
  2. Soft skin
  3. Moisturized skin
  4. Easiness of the foam bottle

Shea Moistures promise is to provide products that are paraben, phthalates, paraffin, mineral oil, DEA, petroleum, formaldehyde, propylene, sulfate, and cruelty free. They are a family owned and operated buisness certified organic, natural and fair trade ingredients.

We use Shea on a daily at our home and it has been a staple for the past 4 years. You can find these products at Target, Babies R Us, and on their website www.sheamoisture.com.

Dee ❤
